Miss Philippines Earth 2025 speaks up on Filipinos’ learned helplessness

Philippines – Joy Barcoma, crowned Miss Philippines 2025, took to Facebook to express dissatisfaction over Filipinos’ learned helplessness.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID TO CHALLENGE THE SYSTEM,” she writes in her post.
She insists that Filipinos should not be satisfied with the current state of things as staying stagnant will only “breed corruption, normalize abuse, excuse incompetence, and only reward those who benefit from a broken system.”
She advocates for change and for speaking up. She ends her post with a powerful, “DAHIL ANG KATAHIMIKAN AY HINDI KAPAYAPAAN. ITO AY PAHINTULOT.”
