GREENSBORO, North Carolina — The inspiring throng of Buddhist monks, along with their beloved peace dog Aloka, marks the 87th day of their nearly 2,300-mile peace pilgrimage in North Carolina on Tuesday.
From Greensboro, the group announced on their social media page that their next stop will be in Pleasant Garden and Climax, NC.
“Step by step, we carry the message of peace, mindfulness, loving-kindness, and compassion forward,” the post read. “We are deeply grateful for the continued support and warm welcome we receive along the way.”
A walk that started from Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 26 last year, the group organically garnered followers and supporters across the globe for their selfless act of showcasing compassion to people and places they visit amid politically turbulent times.
The monks are eyeing to conclude their journey in Washington, D.C. in February 2026.
