VP Binay refers to himself as ‘president’
MANILA – Vice President Jejomar Binay may have been eyeing the highest post in the Philippine government since 2010 as he called himself ‘president’ in an interview.
“Eh paano naman, president na ako? (How so, [when] I’m already the president?),” Binay said in an interview when asked about being the chairman of the shareholders of the Philippine Healthcare Educators Inc. (PHEI) back in 2010.
Vice President Binay then quickly corrected the slip of his tongue and clarified that he was actually referring to the vice presidency. He also explained that he made the mistake as people kept asking him about his presidential bid on the May 2016 elections.
However, Vice President Binay did admit that he intend to run for president on the next elections.
“Bata pa ako, talagang nanaginip na akong maging presidente (When I was still a child, I already dreamed of becoming the president),” he said in a separate interview.
But with more witnesses surfacing against him, some Filipinos begin to have second thoughts on supporting him as a presidential candidate.
Vice President Binay had recently been linked to PHEI with allegations that he made money from the company which was affiliated to the University of Makati (UMak).
