MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) garnered praises and support from members of the House of Representatives.
Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua said he supports the President’s push for accountability in electric power distribution and water services delivery, whether in Metro Manila or the provinces.
“I fully support the accountability measures on public works projects to expose the contractors, collaborators, and projects that fail to build better and more,” he said.
Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. said he welcomed the administration’s commitment to hold accountable those behind the disappearance of cockfight enthusiasts.
“It was a strong signal that the culture of impunity is finally being dismantled in our country. For far too long, families have been waiting for justice, for answers, for closure,” he said.
“President Marcos’ statement is a welcome development, and I urge our law enforcement agencies to pursue this case with the same urgency and determination that the President has shown. As the President reminded us, no one is above the law and whoever is responsible must be held to account,” Abante said.
Bohol 3rd District Rep. Kristine Alexie Besas Tutor said Marcos delivered a clear, compassionate, and pro-poor SONA that resonates deeply with Boholanos.
“In Bohol province, in the Central Visayas, our most pressing needs are public health, social services, housing, and public works. The President directly and clearly addressed these issues, especially the upgrades in PhilHealth coverage, problems with power supply and water services, and more classrooms and day care centers,” she said.
“I support the accountability measures the President declared and the budget priorities,” Tutor added.
Quezon 3rd District Rep. Reynante Arrogancia said Marcos’ SONA laid out a “clear, practical priorities that give hope to rural communities like ours.”
“Malaking po tulong sa mga kababayan ko sa Lalawigan ng Quezon ang pagpapabilis sa pag-release ng CLOA (Certificate of Land Ownership Award) sa mga magsasaka (The swift distribution of CLOAs is a big help to our countrymen in Quezon),” he said.
“I will be among the House Members who will push for the amendments to the Coco Levy Fund. I will support the electrification of remote barangays in Quezon and net metering for households and housing projects,” Arrogancia added.
Senior Citizens Party-List Rodolfo “Ompong” Ordanes said he was “overjoyed” by the President’s announcement that Philippine Health Insurance Corp.’s dialysis coverage will be expanded to one whole year and the over PHP2 million ceiling on kidney transplants.
“We are glad our grandchildren will have 300 more ECCD (Early Childhood Care and Development) centers, Bulilit Centers, and day care centers. We will support the items for these in the national budget,” he added.
Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores said Marcos clearly understands the struggles of rural communities.
“What the President said in his fourth SONA matters to us, especially the faster release of CLOA and other certifications for farmers, amendments to the Coco Levy Fund law, and failures in water services delivery because we experience problems about these issues on a daily basis,” he said.
Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco said he fully supports Marcos’ directive to investigate the government’s flood control projects.
“Panahon na para panagutin ang mga tiwaling nakinabang at pinagkakitaan ang mga proyektong dapat sana ay para sa ating mga kababayan. Dapat ding singilin ang mga kawani ng pamahalaan na sangkot sa mga palpak at substandard na proyekto (It’s time to make accountable the corrupt officials and those who made money out of the projects that are supposed to benefit the people. Government employees involved in substandard projects should be made liable,” he said.
“Maliwanag ang mensahe ng Pangulo. Kailangang labanan ang korapsyon sa pamahalaan at kailangang bantayan ang budget ng bayan para masigurong walang sikretong sinisingit na mga items (budget insertions) na hindi naman kabilang sa plano at programa ng pamahalaan (The message of the President was clear. Corruption in government must be checked and the budget should be guarded against budget insertions),” Tiangco added.
