Trump bans entry for citizens of 12 countries starting Monday

WASHINGTON – Citizens from 12 countries will be banned from entering the United States starting Monday, while entry restrictions will be imposed on citizens of seven additional countries, according to a proclamation by US President Donald Trump.
The entry ban will apply to citizens of Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. The ban will take effect at 12:01 a.m. EST (04:01 a.m. GMT) on June 9.
A partial entry ban will be imposed on citizens of Burundi, Venezuela, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Turkmenistan. The restrictions will apply to certain types of visas for citizens of each of these countries.
However, according to the proclamation, visas issued before the order takes effect will remain valid.
