Emergency Preparedness Week is taking place from May 4 – 10. This annual event is held across Canada every May to encourage people to prepare for the range of emergencies that could happen in their communities.

“Emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere,” says Coby Duerr, Deputy Chief of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). “While we can’t always prevent emergencies, we can take steps to prepare for them.”

During Emergency Preparedness Week, Calgarians are encouraged to learn about the hazards that exist in Calgary and the actions they can take to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
