Canada will hold an important election on April 28. After Justin Trudeau stepped down, Mark Carney, a former central banker with no political experience, will lead the Liberal Party’s campaign. Carney will focus on the trade dispute with the United States that hurts Canadian businesses.

Mark Carney is likely to focus on the trade war with US President Trump, who is threatening to impose new tariffs on goods from Canada. If that happens, Carney has promised to keep Canada’s tariffs in place. This issue is now a significant topic in national discussions. Many voters are worried about how trade tensions will affect the economy.

The election will be close, especially between Carney and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. Earlier polls showed the Conservatives with a strong lead, but that gap is narrowing because of the ongoing trade issues. Carney will also face competition from smaller parties like the Bloc Québécois and the New Democrats.

As the election nears, Carney must strengthen his relationships with the US and support Canadian businesses. Voters will likely compare Carney’s plan to address economic issues with Poilievre’s approach and choose what seems better. The next few weeks will be necessary for Canada’s future.
