MANILA – The United States Embassy in Manila warned against fraud targeting US visa applicants.
Fraudulent emails and messages are reportedly being sent by individuals pretending to be US government employees to trick visa applicants into sending them money.
“Applicants must follow the payment steps on our website only. Other sources are not valid or legitimate. We urge individuals to be vigilant against visa fraud,” the embassy said Friday.
The embassy encouraged applicants to visit its official website at ph.usembassy.gov/visas to help safeguard their information and avoid becoming a victim.
If an applicant suspects being misled or taken advantage of, a report may be sent to email address FPMManila@state.gov.
