LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – A step toward a full digitalization of government services, the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) on Monday launched eGovernment PH applications in a resort here.
DICT Undersecretary for eGovernment David Almirol said the Philippine e-Governance program (eGov PH) is an initiative aimed at improving the delivery of government services through digital technology.
“It enhances transparency, accessibility, and efficiency by providing online platforms for various services, such as business registration, tax payments, and public document access,” Almirol said as he led the agency and other government officials in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, signaling the launch of the eGovPH mobile application at Jpark Island Resort.
Daanbantayan Mayor Sun Shimura accompanied Almirol in cutting the ribbon.
The program seeks to empower citizens and streamline government operations, ultimately fostering better governance.
Frederick Amores, regional director of DICT-7, explained that citizens can now access government services online in a single mobile app and avoid long queues, face-to-face and paper transactions.
As the government’s first one-stop-shop platform for national and local government services, the app streamlines processes and transactions, and brings a total ease of doing business to Filipinos.
In the app, priority programs like job creation, travel, investments, agriculture, and e-commerce as well as e-government services from both national and local governments can also be accessed.
“The DICT signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 26 government agencies,” Amores added.
App for clearances and permits
Filipinos can also access an online one-stop shop that offers a variety of LGU services such as applying for clearances, certifications, and permits.
The agency also partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment, Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and other agencies where Filipinos can now build their resume in the eGov PH app to be accessed by local and foreign job providers.
The platform also offers information on all tourism spots in the country.
The DICT is also working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs, DOT, and the Bureau of Immigration in implementing the Philippine eVisa Portal for easier entry of tourists into the country.
Multiple outbound and inbound travel declarations and health forms are unified under the Philippine One-Stop Electronic Travel Declaration System which is done under partnership with the Bureau of Quarantine, BI, Bureau of Customs, Department of Health, DOT, and Department of Transportation.
“You can now file complaints or reports directly to government agencies and receive urgent responses through the app,” Amores said.
