PH to expect more foreign students in 2015

MANILA — More foreign students are expected to enroll in the country’s schools starting school year 2015-2016.

The rise is attributed to the number of universities in Asia that have formalized their agreement for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Integration.

According to the Commmission on Higher Education (CHED) foreign students usually enroll in the country for courses in agriculture, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, maritime, business, and medical technology.

A number of universities in the country have already adjusted to their schedules in line with the move.

The schools which shifted their openings in August include The University of the Philippines, the University of Santo Tomas, the Ateneo de Manila University, and the De La Salle University (DLSU).

The 10 ASEAN member states working in the full integration into the global market under the vision ASEAN Economic Community 2015 includes Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
