MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has extended the deadline for the online filing of applications for voter status reactivation until next week.
In a statement Monday night, the poll body said the original Sept. 7 deadline has been extended to Sept. 25.
“Due to the significant number of deactivated Filipino voters who are yet to apply for reactivation, the Comelec en banc resolved to extend it in order to allow more Filipinos to conveniently reactivate their voter registration record without the hassle of physically going to the local Comelec office,” it added.
The different types of applications for reactivation which can be availed online are as follows:
–application for reactivation;
–application for reactivation with transfer of registration within or with correction of entries;
–application for reactivation with transfer of registration within and with correction of entries; and
–for senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs), application for reactivation with updating of records.
“All Filipinos who are already registered voters, but did not vote in two (2) consecutive elections are deemed deactivated. They can file an application for reactivation online as long as they have complete biometrics in the local Comelec office where they registered,” the poll body added.
The online filing of reactivation shall be done through the official email address of the Offices of Election Officer (OEOs) nationwide which is available on the official Comelec website (www.comelec.gov.ph).
Latest data from the poll body revealed that over 500,000 individuals are looking to have their voter registration records reactivated.
A total of 556,231 applications for reactivation have been received from Feb. 12 to Sept. 11.
