MANILA – Public satisfaction with the performance of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. increased in the second quarter of 2024, according to the non-commissioned survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The SWS survey, conducted from June 23 to July 1, found that 55 percent of 1,500 respondents were satisfied with Marcos’ performance, slightly higher than the 50 percent recorded in March this year.

Only 28 percent were not satisfied with Marcos, lower compared to the 31 percent who previously expressed dissatisfaction with his performance, while 15 percent were ambivalent on the matter.

Marcos’ net satisfaction score rose by 7 points to “moderate” +27 from “moderate” +20 in March.

His net satisfaction was highest in Balance Luzon, which was at “good” +38, followed by Metro Manila at “good” +30, the Visayas at “moderate” +26, and Mindanao at “neutral” +5.

The SWS said net satisfaction with Marcos’ performance rose sharply by 24 points from “poor” -19 in Mindanao and 17 points from “neutral” +9 in the Visayas.

Marcos’ net satisfaction hardly moved from “good” +40 in Balance Luzon and “good” +33 in Metro Manila, the survey showed.

Net satisfaction rating with Marcos also improved by 16 points in rural areas (“good” +34 from “moderate” +18); 10 points among women (“moderate” +26 from “moderate” +16); 4 points among men (“moderate” +28 from “moderate” +24); and two points in urban areas (“moderate” +23 from “moderate” +21).

It also rose by 12 points among those 55 years old and above (“good” +40 from “moderate” +28); 10 points among the 18 to 24 years old (“moderate” +29 from “moderate” +19); eight points among the 45 to 54 years old (“moderate” +21 from “moderate” +13); six points among the 25 to 34 years old (“moderate” +18 from “moderate” +12); and one point among the 35 to 44 years old (“moderate” +20 from “moderate” +19).

Marcos’ net satisfaction score also rose by 16 points among non-elementary graduates (“good” +32 from “moderate” +16), and 12 points among junior high school graduates (“moderate” +29 from “moderate” +17).

It fell slightly by 5 points among college graduates (“moderate” +12 from “moderate” +17), while it barely moved among elementary graduates (“moderate” +27 from “moderate” +26).

The SWS noted that Marcos also posted higher net satisfaction among those expecting all or most of his promises to be fulfilled, those who see much benefit from his foreign visits, and those who expect him to be successful.

The SWS used face-to-face interviews of adult Filipinos, with 600 coming from Balance Luzon and 300 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
