Winnipeg’s acting chief administrative officer suspended for three days: Mayor
Winnipeg’s acting chief administrative officer has been suspended from his duties for three days.
Deepak Joshi was escorted out of city hall Friday.
The question is why?
Mayor Brian Bowman says he has lost confidence in Joshi, but declined to give more details.
Bowman says Joshi is suspended with pay and his status will be reviewed by members of the executive policy committee next week.
Joshi’s appointment was opposed by some members of council, who felt he had been too closely linked to problems with fire hall replacement programs and cost over-runs with the police headquarters project.
“It’s not appropriate for me to get into details,” Bowman said Friday.
“Winnipeggers voted me in to bring change, to act with integrity. I believe I have done that.”
