MANILA – Kapuso star Marian Rivera recently answered back to her critics saying that being proficient in English does not necessarily translate to being intelligent.

“So are you telling me that the basis of one’s intelligence is being well-versed in English?

” asked Rivera during an interview in “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho.”

She added, “For me, the basis of being intelligent is one’s ability to face the challenges of everyday living. What would I get from being proficient in English if I won’t be able to provide for my loved ones?

Rivera admitted that she is not good in English, but said that she cannot accept those who belittle her because of that.

“For someone to earn a degree in Psychology in a well-known university, I think that speaks a lot about his/her level of intelligence,” she further explained.

During the same interview, Rivera with her husband Dingdong Dantes also shared some things about their relationship, particularly how they face misunderstandings.

“I’m very sensitive. Despite that, I forgive easily,” said Rivera.

“Dingdong knows how to sway me. He will send me sweet messages or bring me flowers or sometimes we eat out.”

Meanwhile, Dantes said that the secret of their relationship is that they never allow the day to end without talking about their problems. Moreover, he encouraged other couples from involving other people into their problems.

“It’s good to talk to other couples to get their opinion. But at the end of the day, you need to understand that just because their solution is effective it means it will be applicable to you as well,” he explained.
