MANILA — In light of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis in the country on January 15 to 19, some Muslim leaders have gathered to express support on the much-awaited religious event led by the pontiff.

In a roundtable discussion organized by the 1-Bangsamoro Movement, Muslim leaders ensured the security of the Pope throughout his stay in the country particularly on his meeting with two Muslim representatives in the University of Sto. Tomas.

“We make sure that as Muslims won’t be a hindrance to the Pope on his visit here in the Philippines,” Alan Balangi of 1-Bangsamoro Movement said.

Muslim leaders further noted that the Pope’s first visit in the country would promote peace between Muslims and Christians.
