MANILA – The country’s daily average of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases went up by 24 percent from July 25 to 31, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.
From 2,791 per day from July 18 to 24, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 3,443 daily from July 25 to 31.
The latest case bulletin showed that there were 24,100 new cases and one verified death in the recent week.
For the same period, 44 cases were added to the tally of severe and critical infections, which went up to 744 from the previous week’s 666.
Only 23.3 percent or 601 out of the 2,583 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, while 29.5 percent or 6,505 of 22,051 non-ICU beds are utilized.
To date, about 71,700,612 or 91.81 percent of the country’s target population (78,100,578) are vaccinated against Covid-19, including 77.87 percent of 8,721,357 senior citizens.
As of July 31, a total of 16,215,466 have received booster shots out of the total 71,700,612 who are fully vaccinated.
Over the weekend, the DOH said it was confident in the accuracy of case reporting and surveillance performed by its units.
While the antigen test results are not yet counted in the case reports, the DOH said they are being monitored through the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Units which track the compliance of antigen test reporting from local government units and health facilities.
The agency said Covid-19 hospitals beds and intensive care unit utilization rates stay low despite an observed increase in cases.

Get vaccinated. According to WHO and CDC, taking these steps and preventing illness is the best way to protect ourselves. Avoid getting too close (within 2 meters or 6 feet) to somebody who is ill or exhibiting symptoms. If you are not fully immunized, keep a minimum of 6 feet (2 meters) between you and other people when you are in indoor public settings. Avoid crowded areas and poorly ventilated indoor spaces (ventilation). Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if you are unable to wash your hands. Whether you are immunized or not, if you are in an area with a high concentration of COVID-19 cases and hospitalized patients, use a face mask in indoor public spaces. The CDC advises using the most protective mask you can find that fits properly and is pleasant to wear. When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue. Delete the used tissue. Quickly wash your hands. Do not touch your lips, nose, or eyes. Regularly disinfect and clean surfaces that are touched a lot. A persistent medical condition may increase your risk of developing a serious illness. Inquire with your healthcare practitioner about other precautions you can take.

Nariyan pa rin ang banta ng Covid-19 kaya’t kinakailangan talaga ang dobleng pag iingat. Sumunod sa mga safety protocols. And get vaccinated everyone!

As expected, given the situation now in our country,I am not shocked anymore kung tataas na naman ang kaso ng COVID. Imagine,no more masks,no more social distancing, practically
,no more health protocols. These people must have forgotten that COVID started from one person alone and look at how it spread in the entire globe? When kaya nila marerealize na as long as meron pang COVID CASE,regardless of how many are there, maari parin silang mahawa kaya they should still practice proper hygiene and follow health protocols kasi I’m pretty sure na tumaas na naman ang case kasi nga some or I must say majority no longer follow the health protocols that were implemented para maprevent ang pagkalat ng COVID. We should not wait for the worst, kababayans!
