Trillanes: Binay afraid of the truth
MANILA – Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said Vice President Jejomar Binay backed out of their supposed face off because he is afraid of the truth.
Trillanes added that Binay is afraid that the truth, which is hard to destroy even with the best form of argument, will be revealed to the public.
“In this particular case, whatever he might say, he is just afraid of the truth. That’s the only thing I have in this debate and it’s hard to destroy that. No matter how skilled you are in arguing, if your opponent is holding the truth, you won’t win,” Trillanes told reporters.
The senator also said that backing out is expected as it was not the first time that Binay was untrue to his word.
Trillanes, a former navy who led the 2003 Oakwood mutiny said that Binay was afraid that his attempt to unseat President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo in 2007 will be revealed to the public.
He added that Binay conspired with Magdalo renegade soldiers to launch the said attempt.
Binay’s spokesperson, meanwhile, denied Trillanes’ allegations saying that the senator is trying to recreate history with his claims.
“Senator Trillanes is now attempting to rewrite history with a revisionist version of his Manila Peninsula siege which ended in a fiasco,” Joey Salgado, one of the spokespersons for Binay, said in a statement.
