MANILA — “I have nothing to hide,” Senate President Franklin Drilon yesterday said welcoming the investigation by his colleagues over his alleged involvement in the overpriced Iloilo Convention Center (ICC).

Drilon also said that though the project was funded under his pork barrel, he had no participation in the processes involved in its implementation.

“The DPWH, which supervised the ICC, can easily disprove the malicious allegations made against the implementation of the project.

I was nowhere near that process to intervene, let alone nominate anyone to be the contractor,” he said.

He also denied allegations saying he is “totally baseless and ridiculous” and that the person behind the accusations was a disgruntled former employee.

On earlier reports, Manuel Mejorada, Drilon’s former consultant accused Drilon of plunder in relation to the ICC project.

Mejorada has also filed similar cases against him in the past.

Drilon, however, dismissed the allegations adding that he fired Mejorada for lashing out against his political enemies using his social media account.

“I have nothing to hide. Any inquiry or investigation will validate the facts and figures of this project, and will just show how absurd these vile allegations really are,” Drilon said.
