BIFF harass village in Sultan Kudarat, clash with gov’t soldiers
MANILA – Islamic rebels clashed with the military following the rebels’ harassment of a civilian community in Sultan Kudarat.
Members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) harassed civilians living in Barangay (village) Bagumbayan, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, according to Colonel Dickson Hermoso.
The harassment occurred at 6:30 a.m., Thursday and was followed by a clash between the rebels and the government soldiers who repulsed the attack.
“The attackers withdrew to different directions after sensing that the military is prepared to secure the community,” Hermoso said.
Meanwhile, the military is now conducting pursuit operations against the fleeing rebels.
