8 out of 10 Pinoys: Binay should face the Senate
MANILA – A recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed that nearly 8 out of 10 Filipinos want Vice President Jejomar Binay to face the senate and answer the corruption allegations raised against him.
The survey was conducted following the senate inquiry on the alleged discrepancies in the construction of the Makati City Hall parking building which brought to light more issues of corruption raised against Binay.
While 11 percent are still undecided and 10 percent disagreed, 79 percent of the Filipinos who answered the survey agreed that Binay should attend the senate inquiry and answer the allegations.
Fifty-seven percent of those infavor of Binay’s appearance in the Senate inquiry “strongly” agreed while only 22 said they find the idea “somewhat” agreeable.
Among those who disagreed, six percent “somewhat” disagreed while only four percent “strongly” agreed.
The nationwide survey of 1,200 respondents was conducted from Sept. 26 to 29 through a face-to-face interview with the respondents.
