PH Covid-19 recovery tally climbs to 703K
MANILA – The country’s Covid-19 recovery tally climbed to 703,404 after 55,204 new survivors were reported on Sunday.
Latest data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed an 81.3-percent recovery rate from among the 864,868 who got infected.
DOH also logged 11,681 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 146,519.
Of the active cases, about 96.8 percent are mild, 1.7 percent are asymptomatic, 0.6 percent are severe, 0.34 are moderate, and 0.5 percent are in critical condition.
There were also 201 new deaths, pushing the death toll to 14,945 or 1.73 percent of total cases.
Data submitted Saturday likewise showed that 20.8 percent of 36,988 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19. Six laboratories were not able to submit to the Covid-19 Document Repository.
“Some 22 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, seven were recovered cases. Moreover, 13 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.
Currently, 65 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 50 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, 52 percent of 6,000 ward beds and 44 percent of 2,000 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 86 percent of 800 intensive care unit beds, 69 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, 57 percent of 2,200 ward beds, and 60 percent of 800 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region.
The DOH, together with the UP-Philippine Genome Center and UP-National Institutes of Health, similarly reported the detection of 170 B.1.1.7 variant cases, 192 B.1.351 variant cases, one (1) P.1 variant case, and 19 P.3 variant cases among two batches of 25 samples sequenced on March 28, and 1,336 samples sequenced between March 28 and April 8.
With the increasing number of variant cases being detected, the DOH reiterated that strict and consistent adherence to the minimum public health standards and increased support for the National Vaccination Program to mitigate transmission.
It also urged those experiencing Covid-19 symptoms to immediately isolate and contact Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams.
