MANILA – Despite ongoing renovations, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was again among the list of the world’s top 10 worst airports.

ANC cited the US website Cheat Sheet’s ranking  in a report noting on the airport’s poor facilities, long queues and “impolite” staff and officials.

Cheat Sheet indicated that the airport is unable to conveniently accommodate more than 32 million people who avails of its facilities yearly.

Also included in the list are Charles De Gaulle in Paris, Los Angeles International Airport, Italy’s Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport, New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Zurich International in Switzerland, Chad’s N’Djamena International Airport, Russia’s Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport, Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Arkansas, and India’s Calcutta Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

The US website noted that the failure is due to the fact that the airport was designed to hold only six million passengers.

“This Manila-based airport struggles with the 32 million passengers who use its facility each year. That shouldn’t come as a shock, though, considering it only has the capacity for six million passengers, according to CNBC,” it said.

Despite the country being known for the hospitality of its people, travelers criticized the airport staff for being discourteous.

This is the second time that the country’s largest airport was cited as the worst airport in the world.

In 2013, Sleeping in Airports, included NAIA on its list of the world’s worst airports. The travel website made the ranking by asking travelers questions about comfort, conveniences, cleanliness and customer service.
