PH Covid-19 recoveries hit 430,490

MANILA – The overall tally of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide has risen to 430,490 with 533 new recovered cases reported on Thursday.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the figure is equivalent to a 92.4-percent recovery rate among those who contracted the disease.

In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also reported 1,776 new cases which brought the total number of active cases to 26,179.

Of the active cases, about 81.4 percent are mild, 0.34 percent are moderate, 2.7 percent are severe, and 5.2 percent are in critical condition.

Quezon City topped the list of provinces and cities which logged the most number of new Covid-19 cases for the day with 126 infections.

It is followed by Davao City with 121, Rizal with 94, Western Samar with 57, and Bulacan with 56 infections.

A DOH data on Dec. 23 showed that about 1,412 or 6.2 percent out of the 22,721 tested turned positive for Covid-19.

The DOH also reported seven new deaths, bringing the death toll to 9,055.

“About 19 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and, of these, 15 recovered cases and a death have been removed. Moreover, 37 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count after final validation,” it said.

As of Thursday, there is a total bed capacity of 21,300 dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Available are about 63 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 66 percent of 13,500 isolation beds; and 76 percent of 5,900 ward beds.

About 81 percent of 2,000 ventilators are available for use.

The DOH reminded the public to avoid “super spreader” events this holiday season and to limit the celebration of the holidays with immediate family members.

It also advised the public to choose staycation over going out on trips, to have limited time outdoors, and to always observe minimum public health standards.
