Learn how to craft stories for a web audience

RICHMOND, B.C. – Learn about new online opportunities for writers at a free three-hour workshop given by Richmond’s new Writer-in-Residence, Mark Leiren-Young, from 6-9 p.

m. on Oct. 7. This workshop for adults will be held in the Community Place room at the Brighouse (Main) Branch of Richmond Public Library, 7700 Minoru Gate. To register, call 604-276-4300.

“Blogging, podcasting, YouTube, social media and anti-social media – all these are ways to share your stories online,” said library communications officer Shelley Civkin. “This workshop will explore the many opportunities there are now to share stories, and Mark Leiren-Young will discuss what kinds of stories are best to tell and the various ways they can be told,” added Civkin.

Richmond’s third annual Writer-in-Residence program is hosted by the Richmond Arts Centre, the Richmond Public Library, and the Minoru Place Activity Centre. “We’re thrilled to have acclaimed author and playwright Mark Leiren-Young here with us, and we know the public will benefit from his knowledge and skills,” added Civkin.
