MANILA – State-run Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) has alerted anew its clients to be wary against scammers employing phishing schemes through online platforms amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) health crisis.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday night, Landbank said some individuals pretending as its employees use fake Facebook accounts in posting fraudulent links that lure victims to register, sign up or send mobile loads and tempting them to send money to the remittance centers or prepaid e-wallets, in the guise of winning prizes or getting assistance from the government amid the pandemic.

Landbank said these posts are bogus and clarified that it did not come from its end or any of its subsidiaries.

It also urged its clients to avoid joining these Facebook pages or any online groups that deceive users into giving fraudsters critical information, including bank account details.

Magingat sa pag-share ng personal na detalye online gaya ng card number o CVV upang hindi mabiktima ng mga kawatan (Be careful about sharing personal details online such as card number or CVV to avoid prey on thieves),” the advisory reads.

CVV number is the three-digit number on the reverse of the card, next to the signature panel, which will be required for online or phone purchase.

It also urged the public to only get information from its official social media channels and website.

The public is encouraged to report or inform its customer service hotline if they found any fake or bogus social media accounts using the bank’s name.

The public can call through Landbank Customer Care Hotline: (02) 8-405-7000 or 1-800-10-405-7000 (PLDT Domestic Toll-Free) or email at customercare@mail.landbank.com.
