Throwing villainous lines as his victim asks for help, John Regala, used to grace the television and big screen with his effective kontrabida acts. However, in a viral photo, the actor was found in a weak state where he was the one who needed help.

Siya po si Mister John Regala. Ang sikat na kontrabida, humingi nang tulong po sa aken kase nahihilo po siya may hinahanap na nurse (This is Mister John Regala. He is the famous antagonist. He asked for my help because he said that he was dizzy and that he is looking for a nurse),” this was how a certain Carlo Marti S. Clariza, a deliveryman, started the caption of his post, with a photo of John on Monday, July 27.

John has a facemask on and is pictured in a shirt and jeans, seated on a wooden bench by the streetside.

According to Carlo’s narration, he could not understand John at first because it seemed that the latter had a bit of a difficulty speaking as he was feeling dizzy. He said that the actor asked for his help so he immediately alerted some the barangay and the police in their area, Brgy. 183 in Pasay.

Masakit lang isipin na ang dating idolong kontrabida ay nasa ganyang kondisyon (It is just painful to think that idolized former antagonist is in this kind of condition),” he continued.

Carlo said that he did not leave the actor until he was sure that the authorities handled the situation well. He also thanked those who responded to his call.

In an interview with GMA, John confirmed that he was the man in the viral post, saying that he was waiting for a friend who is a nurse, to give him medical help.

John is suffering from liver cirrhosis, which according to the Mayo clinic, is a late stage of scarring in the liver that is caused by many forms of liver diseases and conditions. In a separate interview with DZRH, the actor also said that he has a liquid inside his stomach that needs to be released, and that his throat has varicose veins which cause him to cough out blood when it ruptures.

Aside from these health concerns, in his interview with GMA, John said that he is still grieving the death of his mother, Ruby Regala, last year. This also led to him dealing with problems with his wife.

Kung simpleng tao lang, hindi makakayanan ang ratsada ng problema na kinakaharap ko ngayon (A simple person may not be able to handle all these problems that I am facing right now),” he said.

In a recent interview with DZMM, John thanked Carlo who helped him even if he accidentally collided with the latter’s motorcycle.

Hilong hilo ako kasi 13 araw na akong hindi kumakain. Hindi mo ako iniwanan. Bihira ‘yung ganun kaya maraming maraming salamat sa ‘yo. Tinatanaw kong utang na loob ‘yun (I was really dizzy because I have not eaten for 13 days. But you did not leave me. It is rare to meet someone like that, thank you very much. I really owe you a lot),” an emotional John said.
