Vice Ganda exits stage during ‘It’s Showtime’ opening; explains he did it because he had to ‘cry’

Despite the decision to junk the franchise renewal of TV network ABS-CBN, its noontime show “It’s Showtime” continues to bring joy to its audience on Saturday, July 11. But during the program’s opening, one of its hosts, Vice Ganda, cannot seem to hide his emotions while on the stage, as he walked out of sight from the cameras while the “It’s Showtime” theme song was still playing.

The comedian, at first, sang his lines in the song, but it seemed that he was not as energetic as his co-hosts, although he tried to keep a smile on his face.

When it was Jhong Hilario’s turn, Vice Ganda, at the back, shook his head before leaving the stage. He was not able to return until the song ended.

Explaining what happened, Vice Ganda said in a tweet that he had to leave the stage to ‘cry.’

“I couldn’t fake it. Pero ok nako after humagulgol (But I’m okay after sobbing),” he said.

This happened a day after the House Committee on Legislative Franchises rejected the application of ABS-CBN for a new franchise, preventing the TV network from getting back on-air.

Seventy members of the committee voted against giving the media giant a new franchise, while only 11 of them were in favor of it. Two lawmakers inhibited, while one abstained.

Following this decision, hashtags like #NoTo ABSCBNFranchiseDenial, #IbalikAngABSCBN, and #WeAreOneKapamilya trended on Twitter, as many netizens and well-known personalities expressed support to the TV network and condemned the rejection of its franchise application.

In his previous tweet, Vice Ganda believes that there will be a “happy ending” no matter what the current situation is.

“LORD you are the greatest Director, Producer and Writer. Naging Komedi, Horror, Action at Drama man sya sa pinakahuli Happy Ending pa din yan (It may have turned into comedy, horror, action, and drama, in the end, it will have a happy ending),” the comedian said.
