32 more Covid-19 infections logged among OFs

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday said 32 more overseas Filipinos (OFs) were afflicted with the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe, bringing the total to 8,506.

The DFA also reported that the recoveries increased by 30 in the same regions, while five new deaths were reported in two countries in the Americas and the Asia Pacific.

The recoveries and death toll stood at 5,131 and 554, respectively.

To date, the number of Filipinos undergoing treatment and those who recovered remains at 33 percent and 60 percent of the confirmed cases, while deaths are at 6.5 percent.

Most of the deaths were recorded in Middle East/Africa with 289, followed by the Americas with 168, Europe with 94, and the Asia Pacific with three.

“As more and more Filipinos affected by Covid-19 seek the government’s assistance for repatriation, the DFA remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of assisting our nationals, in partnership with host countries, and ensuring their safe return, whenever possible,” the DFA said.
