PH posts highest single-day Covid-19 recoveries at 301
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported highest single-day number of patients who recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) at 301, raising the total to 6,552.
The DOH, however, logged 364 new coronavirus cases, jacking up the overall tally to 26,781.
Of the additional cases, 115 are late cases while 249 are fresh cases that are based on the lists submitted by only 40 out of 59 current operational laboratories in the country.
The DOH also recorded five new fatalities, bringing the total to 1,103 deaths.
As several areas across the country relax its community quarantine measures, more establishments are expected to resume business, including in the food & beverage industry, said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a virtual presser.
She advised the public to remain vigilant and exercise all preventive measures against the virus.
“Ngayon na magbubukas nang muli ang mas marami pang food establishments, mas mahigpit na health, sanitation, at physical distancing guidelines po ang ating iro-roll (Now that more food establishments will open, we will be rolling out stringent health, sanitation, and physical distancing guidelines),” she said.
‘Dine-in under new normal’
Kenneth Yang, president of McDonald’s Philippines, during the same presser shared their safety protocols for dine-in operations as well as ensuring the safety of their employees.
These include strict customer entry protocols as well as requiring its crew to regularly fill-up health declaration and daily health check forms.
Mark de Joya, marketing director of Max’s Group, one of the largest dining groups in the country, said its restaurants will be launching a new dining experience as a way to adapt to the new normal.
Among these is the concept of a digital party, which would allow hosts of virtual meetings, gatherings, and even weddings, to send food to its “guest” participants by ordering through the group’s platforms.
Another leader in the F&B sector, Foodee Global Concepts president Eric Thomas Dee said their group had been following the government’s guidelines since the community quarantine was imposed.
With the partial resumption of dine-in operations, he said that brands under Foodee Global Concepts are innovating in the area of contactless transactions.
