2.2K Filipinos repatriated from 6 countries: DFA
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday welcomed 2,281 overseas Filipinos from Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Barbados, Germany, and the Netherlands who arrived on separate flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 2.
The repatriates were subjected to testing for Covid-19 upon their arrival, except for the seafarers from Barbados whose manning agency arranged their testing to be done at the quarantine facility by a private provider, the department said in a news release on Tuesday.
All arriving passengers were briefed on quarantine protocols before they were transported to designated facilities where they will undergo mandatory quarantine based on the guidelines established by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
The DFA, together with its Philippine embassies and consulates around the world, continues to work with various national agencies in assisting Filipinos amid the Covid-19 crisis.
