240 of 757 Covid-19 positive Pinoys abroad recover: DFA
MANILA – Around 240 of the 757 total cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among Filipinos abroad have recovered, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Thursday.
“Of the total confirmed cases, 18 new recoveries and 15 new deaths were reported in the Americas since yesterday,” DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said.
The death toll is now at 103, one of whom is recorded in Asia Pacific region, 33 in Europe, five in Middle East/Africa, and 64 in the Americas.
Meñez said the DFA remains committed in supporting global and national efforts against Covid-19 and assisting Filipinos abroad.
On assistance to nationals, the agency has repatriated a total of 3,127 land-based overseas Filipino workers since the Covid-19 outbreak.
It also facilitated the arrival of some 11,579 seafarers affected by the suspension of cruise operations due to the pandemic.
