MANILA — Seems like Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte already forgiven comedian Ramon Bautista for the “hipon” comment.

Recently, Bautista uploaded a photo of the mayor’s note in his personal Instagram account. “MABUHAY KA!” was written in the note with the signature of the mayor.

“Ramon, si Rodrigo ito… Tapos nag-usap kami… and there was peace <3,” posted by Bautista.

He also used the hashtags “MabuhayKaRinMayor,” “RespectForThisCoolGuy,” “LoveFriendshipAndGoodwill” and “WorldPeace.” Moreover, Bautista even referred to the mayor as his “new friend” in his Twitter account.

According to Bautista, RockEd founder Gang Badoy helped him make amends with the mayor.

Badoy paid a courtesy call to the mayor, and convinced the later that Bautista is a good person once you get to know him.

During the Kadayawan Festival, Bautista committed a faux pas on stage, referring to Davaoenas as “hipon.”

The derogatory term is used to describe a person with a beautiful figure but unattractive face.

Bautista apologized, however the city council of Davao declared him as “persona non grata.”

According to Mayor Duterte, he already put the issue behind him.

“Tapos na. (It’s over.) Ang taong naghingi ng patawad (The person who asked for forgiveness) has humbled himself to admit that it was wrong, that’s the end of it,” he said.
