Filipina singer Morissette Amon finally spoke up after drawing flak from some netizens for walking out of a concert where she was a guest performer.
Through posting Instagram stories on Monday, November 11, the singer apologized to talent manager Jobert Sucaldito and his talent Kiel Alo for backing out of the latter’s concert minutes before her turn to appear on the stage. This prompted Sucaldito, who was the concert’s producer, to issue a mid-show apology to the audience.
“Took some time to process things despite the schedules before me, but with much prayer and as I have never done this before, please let me start by saying sorry,” Amon wrote.
“To Tito Jobert and Kiel Alo who was celebrating his birthday concert at the Music Museum that night, what I’ve done was out of character but I still do take full responsibility,” she added.
The “Asia’s Phoenix” explained what made her suddenly withdraw as the guest performer, saying she was “triggered” by an interview minutes before the concert began.
The singer was referring to her interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual, where she shared her thoughts regarding her participation in Alo’s concert and her advice for aspiring singers, as shown in the video by ABS-CBN.
Apart from these, Dumaual also asked Amon about her relationship with her family. It can be recalled that Amon’s father publicly expressed his disapproval of his daughter’s relationship with singer Dave Lamar.
“This private matter is something I purposely did not want to openly share for fear that healing might not prosper between us. The moment got the best of me, and it wasn’t fair to those who expected me to come out on stage as one of the concert’s guests that evening,” she explained.
Amon also apologized to Dumaual who, she said, “was only doing his job and values it as much as I do mine.
“
She asked the public to pray for her and her family as they attempt to resolve the issue between them.
“I am overwhelmed though by those who reached out to me with love and support, not just these past couple of days but earlier on this year, during this particularly painful season of my life,” she said.
The 23-year-old singer also assured those who are concerned about her emotional and spiritual well-being that she is trying her best to have a “sense of balance and stability.”
“I feel for all those who are going through the same thing and just want to remind you, as I have been reminded, that we are not alone,” Amon said.
Reacting to the public apology, Sucaldito expressed his gratitude to the singer for acknowledging her mistake.
“With this Morissette, anak pa rin kita (you are still my child). I am praying that after this, everything will be okay for you healthwise, mentally and emotionally,” he wrote on a Facebook post.
“Hindi ako marunong magtanim ng galit sa mga taong umaamin ng pagkukulang nila (I do not know how to keep grudges to people who admit their shortcomings) – that doesn’t make them less of human beings,” he added.
Putting the issue behind, the talent manager told the singer that they should “move forward for a better tomorrow.”
