Sought-after TV host Rovilson Fernandez remains a loyal Kapuso after 12 years as he renews his contract with GMA Network on October 18.

Joining Fernandez in the signing were GMA Network Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon; Senior Vice President for News and Public Affairs Marissa L. Flores; and Senior Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs Neil B. Gumban

“Si Rovilson ay isa sa mga popular at pinakamagaling na host natin kaya tayo’y natutuwa na pinili na naman niya tayo para ipagpatuloy ang pagiging host niya sa ‘Ang Pinaka’. Ang kailangan sa ‘Pinaka’ ay pinaka rin ang mag-hohost,” Atty. Gozon expressed.

On the other hand, Rovilson shared how grateful he is to be with the Kapuso Network for over a decade now. “Just an absolute blessing. I’ve been happily employed by GMA and I’m going on twelve years now since the QTV days. It’s  been nice to be part of this family. This moment is the kind of contract signing I would see on TV or on the newspapers, and for them to extend the same courtesy to me as well and to our show, I’m so grateful.”

Rovilson hosts the award-winning and long-running infotainment program “Ang Pinaka” on GMA News TV. Every week, Ang Pinaka lists down the top 10 of  anything worth “listing”, touching on topics that range from pop culture, entertainment, politics, travel, food, social media, music, trivia, and others.

Now on its phenomenal 15th year on Philippine television, some of the topics the show featured were the oddest proposed bills and ordinances, amazing animals with super powers, national historical figures, amazing natural wonders, urban legends, and popular showbiz love teams, among others.

“That is the genius of our writers and our production team,” Rovilson proudly expressed. “They still keep it fresh—we’ve literally aired brand new episodes every week for 52 weeks, and rarely do we have repeat episodes. That’s just kudos to them for always reinventing the show. I have the easy job; I just get to basically read out their work and, of course, what is vital is the participation of our viewers and our readers. We always engage them and they let us know what they want to watch and that’s what keeps it fresh.”

Aside from hosting, Rovilson is also an appointed National Peace Ambassador of the country, the Philippines’ first National Ambassadors for World Wide Fund (WWF) along with Marc Nelson. He is also Hong Kong & Singapore Tourism Board’s Ambassador of Goodwill to the Philippines and Earth Hour Philippines Ambassador.

Ang Pinaka has won various local and international awards including Best Lifestyle Program at the Alta Media Icon Awards 2019, Best Adult Educational/Cultural Show Award at the 2012 Catholic Mass Media Awards, a Silver Screen Award in the Educational category at the 2007 US International Film and Video Festival, and a Certificate for Creative Excellence in the Entertainment Category at the 2007 US International Film and Video Festival.

Continue watching infotainment at its finest, hippest, and coolest via “Ang Pinaka” every Sunday, 6:30 p.m. on GMA News TV which also airs abroad on GMA News TV International.
