BB Gandanghari appears in Netflix series ‘Glow,’ gets attention of Pinoy viewers

Filipino viewers of “Glow,” an American comedy series currently streaming on Netflix, were surprised after a fellow kababayan made an appearance on the show.

The Pinoy fans of the series were thrilled to see BB Gandanghari on “Glow,” as they have been sharing on Twitter some screenshots of her scene on the eighth episode of the show’s third season where she played the role of Patricia, a fortune teller and tarot card reader. In that episode, BB was seen along with Alison Brie who played the role of one of the series’ main characters, Ruth “Zoya the Destroya” Wilder.

But it wasn’t only the Filipino audience who felt electrified with her appearance in the Hollywood series.

“Guess what just dropped!?” the actress proudly announced on her August 12 Instagram post, as she expressed gratitude for being part of the show.

“Booking a job is always exciting but booking your favorite show brings the excitement to an entirely different level,” she continued, while she also thanked her management, The Brogan Agency, for helping her to be one of the guest stars.

Released on Netflix in 2017, “Glow” revolves around the story of a group of women who are performing for a wrestling organization in Los Angeles in the 1980s. Aside from Alison, also part of the cast is Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, and Marc Maron, among others.

Prior to “Glow,” BB has already acted in an episode of “Too Old To Die Young,” an American crime drama miniseries streamed on Amazon Prime.

Formerly known as Rustom Padilla, sibling of actor Robin Padilla, BB is now based in Los Angeles after she came out as a transgender woman in 2009. In 2016, she was legally recognized as a woman after a Los Angeles court approved her petition to change her name and gender.
