MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday expressed hope that more graduates of technical vocational education and training (TVET) would land jobs with the launch of a new web-based linking program or app called 911 TESDA.

In his speech during the launch of “911 TESDA” in Taguig City, Duterte hailed the launch of the new program as an affirmation of the administration’s commitment to provide job opportunities for Filipinos.

“I am pleased with the efforts of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in making the undertaking possible. This initiative is just one of the innovative solutions that will bring technical vocational education and training or TVET graduates closer to the local labor market,” Duterte said in his speech.

“I am confident that this program will significantly contribute to our efforts to provide livelihood opportunities that will enable our people to make a decent living, in the process empower them to contribute to our overall growth as a nation,” he added.

Duterte described the program as “responsive” to the growing demand for quality services in households, communities, and enterprises.

“It is my hope that providing efficient, dependable, and reliable means of job application, matching, and hiring will be able to promote ease in doing business and at the same time augment our workers income and increase the demand for employment in automotive, electronics, transport, logistics, and other vital services,” Duterte said.

“I am hopeful that our TVET students and graduates all over the country will successfully land jobs that will best suit their skills and qualifications,” he added.

Duterte also encouraged NPA rebels to surrender their arms and enroll in TESDA instead.

Duterte enjoined industry partners to continue working with the government to produce well-trained individuals in their respective sectors.

He, meanwhile, urged TESDA to further enhance the quality of technical vocational education to open more doors of opportunities for the advancement of Filipino job seekers.

911 TESDA is a free web-based linking program or app that aims to provide employment opportunities for TESDA graduates and where TESDA services can be availed online by individuals, households, and enterprises.

TESDA graduates and certified workers need to be accredited by the digital online service providers (DOSPs) for them to be included in the 911 TESDA.

When the app is tapped for service, the DOSP would look for the registered worker nearest the area or vicinity.

TESDA graduates have the option to work either full time or part time with the DOSP. The app is initially available in the National Capital Region (NCR) but TESDA plans to make this available nationwide.
