MANILA – Two neophyte mayors on Sunday took their oath of office seven weeks after upsetting big names of politics in Metro Manila in the last May 13 mid-term elections.

Victor ‘Vico’ Sotto, a 29-year-old son of showbiz personalities Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, took his oath office as mayor of Pasig City administered by Commission on Audit (COA) chairperson Michael Aguinaldo at the Pasig Sports Complex.

Sotto ended the 27-year reign of the Eusebio family in Pasig after beating reelectionist Roberto Eusebio.

The charismatic and young Sotto earlier promised to do everything to further develop the Pasig City and improved the lives of its residents.

On the other hand, Senator Panfilo Lacson administered the oath to Francis Zamora at the San Juan Flying V Arena.

Zamora, son of longtime congressman Ronaldo Zamora, snapped a 50-year control of San Juan City by the Estrada clan.

He defeated Janela Ejercito-Estrada, daughter of former senator Jinggoy Estrada, who also lost his comeback bid in the Senate.

Zamora was a former vice mayor of San Juan City.

In Cavite, Governor-elect Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla is set to reveal his plans and programs for the next three years as he joins other elected local leaders, including Vice Governor Jolo Remulla in a flag raising ceremony at the provincial capitol in Trece Martires City on Monday (July 1).

Remulla, who defeated former congressman Erinio ‘Ayong’ Maliksi, took his oath of office before older brother, outgoing Cavite Governor and congressman-elect, Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla on June 25.

In Bacoor City, reelected Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla took her oath of office in a ceremony administered by outgoing House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the Bacoor gymnasium on June 28.

Lani, whose husband Bong Revilla also won in the senatorial election, vowed to pursue her flagship programs, including the resettlement of informal settlers living on danger zones. (PNA with report from Dennis Abrina)
