Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo slapped with Bigamy case
Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo was sued for bigamy by a woman who was claiming to be his wife on Monday, June 10.
The case was filed by a certain Julieta Nacpil Licup at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Quezon City.
According to her complaint, Licup said she and Tulfo tied the knot on October 25, 1982, at the Office of the Mayor in Capaz town in Tarlac.
But the broadcaster, the complainant stressed, married another woman named Jocelyn Pua on January 20, 1995, while his marriage with Licup was never annulled.
In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, lawyer Lifrendo Gonzales, the legal counsel of the complainant, explained that “Bigamy happens if you enter into another marriage with another person while your first marriage is still subsisting without acquiring a judicial declaration declaring the said first marriage null and void or through annulment.”
And in the case of Tulfo and Licup, Gonzales said, “there was no nullity of marriage.”
“At the time that Mr. Raffy Tulfo entered into a second marriage, his first marriage is still subsisting,” the lawyer continued.
Tulfo has not yet issued any statement regarding the issue as of writing.
