To celebrate the end of the year, singer Moira Dela Torre was invited to the Marikina Sports Center to perform in front of more than 70,000 fans last Sunday, December 30. However, despite her successful performance, Moira was still overshadowed by an audience member who felt the need to body-shame her during the performance, to which the 25-year-old responded to.

A few days after the incident, the “Malaya” hitmaker posted on Twitter, “To the rude kuya shouting, ‘Ang taba mo, laki mo, Moira, panget, taba (guy shouting, ‘You are fat, you are big, Moira, ugly, fatty)’ while I was performing last night, I was so tempted to look at you and give you a piece of my mind. But I didn’t want anyone feeling how you made me feel.

Even you.”

She states, “Women are beautiful whatever size and may I be the last person you disrespect like that. May you learn to love yourself enough that you won’t need to bring people down just to feel ‘funny’ or important. If you’re reading this, I hope next year showers you love.

Happy new year.”

In a separate post, Moira reminded her fans that they are “beautiful and not alone,” telling them, “It’s a daily battle to get up and remind [ourselves] that [we] are beautiful. Sometimes, we feel brave. Sometimes, the lies are louder. Nonetheless, we need to know we aren’t alone to be able to keep going.

This was a similar statement she shared last December, revealing that the soon-to-be bride had been “stressing over [her] weight with the wedding coming” but concluding, “Smelling the lies trying to come in and countering them. Reminding me over and over that it’s okay! That my worth and beauty will never be defined by my weight and that we’ll get to our goal eventually.” In her words, “Always full of love, always full of hope.”

Moira continued on to say in her most recent post that she is looking forward to the upcoming year. Last year alone was a big year for the performer, as she received the award for ‘Favorite Mellow Video’ during the MYX Music Awards and ‘Best Female Recording Artist’ during the Awit Awards. In April, Moira also got engaged to boyfriend and fellow musician Jason Marvin.
