132,000 families head to evacuation centers in ‘Glenda’s’ aftermath

MANILA – Dinky Soliman, Social Welfare Secretary said on Wednesday that 132,000 families have taken refuge in evacuation centers across over the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol and Eastern Visayas. due to Typhoon Glenda (international codename Rammasun).

Soliman added that more than 300 homes have been either totally or partially damaged, and that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is currently attending to the needs – including the distribution of relief goods – of over 338,000 individuals.

Typhoon Glenda moved out into the South China Sea on Wednesday afternoon. A new low pressure area, to be named “Henry” should it develop into a tropical storm, has been spotted in the eastern territory of the Philippines, near Palau.
