After leading his team to this year’s Final Four bracket, University of Perpetual Help’s import Prince Eze is awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 94th season. He averages 18.2 points, 16.5 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game.

Eze’s coach initially called the award, telling the media after failing to enter the finals, “If Eze doesn’t become MVP, it’s like a duck winning a cockfight.”

Joining Eze in the league’s Mythical Five are Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Bong Quinto, and the San Beda University’s Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, and Donald Tankoua.

Lyceum of the Philippines University’s (LPU) CJ Perez has made headlines about his desire to join the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft, which consequently got him suspended from playing LPU’s first finals game against San Beda last Tuesday, November 6.

Violating the NCAA rule that “an athlete may apply for draft in (the PBA) provided he must inform the ManCom in writing and is duly endorsed by his school representative to the ManCom.” Perez’s individual run for MVP and the Mythical Five was disqualified as well. The next time fans will see Perez in action is on Monday, November 12 for Game 2 of the Finals at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.

Sources say that the Nigerian’s statistics would have topped Perez’s for the top spot nonetheless. In fact, the player who was highest in stats with a 53.66 PAV was Arellano University’s Aaron Fermin.

But, he failed in his pursuit for the second year in a row because the Braves did not make the Final Four.

Eze also received the Defensive Player of the Year award, while Rookie of the Year was given to Larry Muyang of Letran and Arellano’s Archie Concepcion got Most Improved.
