Deluge of rain hits Saskatchewan town still drying out from recent flooding

MOOSOMIN, Sask.—Torrential rain has struck again in southeastern Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada says a cold front spawned a storm system Thursday night that dumped about 50 millimetres of rain on the town of Moosomin in 20 minutes.

The same system also dropped 30 millimetres of rain on Redvers (RED’-vuhrz), unleashed hail the size of golf balls in the Val Marie area and generated a high wind and funnel clouds, although none appeared to have touched down.

Rob Paula with Environment Canada says the deluge in Moosomin led to flooding.

Paula also says more showers are expected again on Saturday, although they’re not expected to be as intense.
