MANILA — Malacañang has expressed appreciation for President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s higher net trust rating in the third quarter of 2018.

“We are grateful for our people’s continuing trust in President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, with the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) showing a ‘very good’ trust rating at +62 in his favor,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a press statement on Sunday.

The 2018 Third Quarter SWS survey conducted on Sept. 15-23 found 74 percent of adult Filipinos had full trust in the President, while 14 percent were undecided, and 12 percent with little trust.

It gave Duterte a net trust rating of +62, rising from +57 in June 2018, classified by SWS as “very good.”

The 5-percentage point increase was due to higher scores in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, combined with steady scores in the Visayas and Mindanao.

In Metro Manila, Duterte’s overall net trust rating rose by 9 points from +42 to +51, while Balance of Luzon was up by 10 points from +50 to +60. It stayed at good +49 in the Visayas and stayed “excellent” in Mindanao from +86 to +88.

Panelo viewed the latest SWS survey as a source of inspiration “to continue delivering the President’s promise of genuine and meaningful change in the government and to the nation.”

“It has often been said that the first job of every good leader is to inspire trust, as such is essential to produce positive results,” Panelo said. “We assure everyone that regardless of the ratings, there is no room for complacency in this branch of the government.”

Panelo said the Duterte administration will persevere in implementing “bolder reforms” to make the bureaucracy more efficient and responsive to the needs of the people.

“With the leadership of our President, as well as with your help and cooperation, we will thrive and push the nation forward amid whatever towering challenge we will face,” he said.
