MANILA — San Mig Coffee beats Rain or Shine in a Grand Slam victory  with 92-89 for  its fourth straight championship in the 2014 Governors’ Cup held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.

Tim Cone, San Mig coach also made it to being the first mentor to win two Grand Slams, while the team marks its fourth franchise in the league history to win a Triple Crown.

“The water hit me but the fourth straight championship and the Grand Slam hasn’t hit me yet. I’m overwhelmed by it,” said Cone in an Inquirer report.

The coach also commended how his team performed during their victorious match against Rain or Shine.

“It’s been amazing to watch [my players]. Watch a guy like Ping (Pingris) to bring the energy every game. And then the calmness of James Yap, nothing fazes him and that’s why he is able to withstand big moments,” Cone said.

While Rain or Shine played the game to their very best up to the very last second, Mixers had Yap to save the team with 9 points coming in the fourth quarter.

Yap was also later named Finals MVP for his performance.
