Enrile surrenders at Camp Crame

MANILA — Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile voluntarily surrendered himself at Camp Crame in Quezon City Friday afternoon after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with the plunder and graft charges he is facing with regard to the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam.

Enrile arrived at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Multipurpose Hall at around 5:26 p.m. where he underwent booking procedures such as physical and medical examinations, fingerprinting and mug shot.

Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief, said Senator Enrile received the arrest warrant issued by anti-graft court at around 4 p.

m. and decided to present himself at Camp Crame.

Sindac said they are still awaiting the court decision on where Enrile would be detained.

“Depende yan sa medical result kung sa hospital o dito sa Crame, considering that Senator Enrile is 90 years old. Kami po ay susunod lang, pero sa ngayon na warrant of arrest ang hawak namin at kusa siyang sumuko, dito po yan sa PNP Custodial Center makukulong,” Sindac explained.

It is also at the PNP Custodial Center where two of his co-accused in the plunder charges — fellow Senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada — are detained.
