MMDA chairman suspends 5 more erring traffic constables
MANILA — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino on Thursday ordered the suspension of five more traffic constables, for various infractions ranging from alleged oppression to grave misconduct in the course of their duties and responsibilities.
Upon recommendation of the MMDA’s Legal Department which found probable cause to charge the five employees, Tolentino immediately ordered the 90-day preventive suspension of the traffic constables.
Last month, the MMDA chief likewise ordered the immediate dismissal of nine personnel of the agency’s Traffic Discipline Office for allegedly having been involved in various street illegal practices.
He said that he would not hesitate to impose sanctions on any employee found to be abusive and remiss in their work.
MMDA records showed that the five employees were slapped, among other things, with charges of questionable apprehension of motorists, grave abuse of authority, not wearing crash helmet, falsification of public documents and driving with delinquent driver’s license.
The identities of the five were temporary withheld pending the resolution of their respective cases.
