Southwest monsoon to dump light to heavy rain Monday

MANILA—The southwest monsoon will continue to dump light to heavy rain over the western section of Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. forecast Monday that two weather disturbances, typhoon “Soulik” and severe tropical storm “Cimaron” are outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

“Soulik” was last observed at 1,670 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum winds of 150 kms.

per hour, gustiness of up to 185 kph. moving west northwest at 20 kph.

“Cimaron” is 2,765 kms. east of Luzon with maximum winds of 90 kms., gusts of 115 kph. and moving northwest at 20 kph.

Areas affected are Ilocos and Cordillera regions, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands Zambales and Bataan. Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mindoro Provinces, Northern Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25-30 degrees Celsius, Tuguegarao City 25-32 degrees Celsius, Baguio City 16-20 degrees Celsius, Metro Cebu 25-33 degrees Celsius and Metro Davao 24-33 degrees Celsius.
