Calgary police say shooting victim found in stolen truck isn’t cooperating
CALGARY—Police say they’re trying to sort out a bizarre chain of events after a man was found in a stolen truck on a rural property north of Calgary, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Fay Ratchford says she was awoken by screams at 2 a.m. on Wednesday and looked out her window to see her neighbour’s truck.
But when she ran out to help, it wasn’t her neighbour but a stranger sitting in the vehicle, bleeding from his belly.
Police believe the 34-year-old man was shot, then went to a home just inside Calgary city limits and broke in and stole a truck.
They say they’re trying to figure out who shot him, where and why, but he isn’t cooperating.
The man was transported to hospital and is in stable condition.
