LizQuen named Box Office King and Queen
Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil and actress Liza Soberano were crowned as Box Office King and Queen in this year’s 49th Box-Office Entertainment Awards given by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
“Thank you so much Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Inc. What an honour it is to be called this year’s Box Office King and Queen,” Liza said in a lengthy, heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, May 20.
Liza expressed her gratitude to the people who made this triumph possible for her and Enrique, mentioning Star Cinema’s Malou Santos, Carmi Raymundo, Mico del Rosario, Olive Lamasan, and director Cathy Garcia-Molina, who, Liza said, was constantly pushing her to her limits.
The 20-year-old actress also thanked their loving fans “who spent sleepless nights tweeting, Instagramming, and putting together block screening all for us.”
“With or without this recognition we still feel like winners because of the unconditional love you show us,” she said.
Liza also thanked ABS-CBN for believing in her and the LizQuen tandem, and for giving the on-screen loveteam the opportunity to inspire thousands of Filipinos across the globe.
“To be honest it’s really us (Enrique and I) who are inspired by all of you and the happiness we see on all of your faces,” Liza stressed.
“To my amazing partner, Enrique, who is always by my side, you bring out the best in me in ways nobody else can. I love you!!!” she added.
As she ends her message, Liza extended her gratitude to God “for lending us the talent to be able to use our platform to make all of you happy.”
“Sorry this is such a long message, my heart is just overflowing with happiness and gratitude,” Liza continued.
Enrique, on the other hand, posted a photo of himself with a caption, “Thank you Guillermo Awards I’m forever grateful.”
Last year, it was Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo who were named as Box Office King and Queen by the foundation for their film “Barcelona: A Love Untold.”
