INC sets 3 new world records in 2nd ‘walk vs. poverty’
MANILA — The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC or Church of Christ) has set three new Guinness World Records during its second Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty held in Manila on Sunday.
In a statement Monday, the INC, headed by Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo, said it surpassed the Guinness world record for the largest human mosaic with a total of 9,000 people forming the group’s tri-colored flag at the Quirino Grandstand.
They beat the record set by Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Nov.14, 2017 with 4,500 participants.
The winning entry formed the Church’s green, white and red flag with the biblical symbol of the Menorah in the middle.
Likewise, the INC smashed the record for the largest human sentence with 23,235 participants forming the sentence “Proud to be a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo”.
They beat the record set by India in 2016 with 16,550 people forming the sentence, “You Can You Will”.
The INC also topped its own Guinness record for the largest charity walk in single venue with participants numbering to 238,171 for its main Manila site.
The 1.6-kilometer walk started at Vito Cruz corner Roxas Boulevard and ended in front of the US Embassy in Manila.
They have broken their own record set in 2014 with 175,509 participants.
Over 1 million INC members participated in the whole-day activity which started at 4 a.

The first INC Worldwide Walk to fight poverty was held on February 15, 2014.
The event benefited victims of typhoon Yolanda that hit the country, particularly the Visayas region in November 2013.
